You're in luck as both these cards, which are still a week away from being made official, have been listed by a Dutch store who may or not may get in trouble very soon for jumping the gun. Found by the guys @ Dinox PC , the listings are of the Sapphire Radeon HD 6850 and HD 6870 featuring DirectX 11 support, updated multi-monitor capabilities (up to six monitors per card), a 256-bit memory interface, 1GB of GDDR5 memory, two DVI, one HDMI 1.4 and two mini DisplayPort 1.2 outputs, CrossFire chops and a TDP of just under 150W. The Radeon HD 6850 GPU and memory clocks published are 725 MHz and 4000 MHz, respectively, while the card's price tag is €189 ($265.7). The conversion probably isn't an accurate estimate as to how much the card will cost in the US but we just have to underline the higher prices here in Europe. As for the Radeon HD 6870, it has the GPU/memory set to 900/4200 MHz and costs €255 ($358.5).

One of the things that ended up being discussed by AMD CEO Dirk Meyer in today's call was the future of AMD's graphics division, where AMD's "second-generation DX11" GPUs were mentioned. We will be launching our second-generation DX11 graphics offerings next week. Later on, he also had the following to say about what's launching and what the expected volume is: We'll be introducing our second-generation of DX11 technology into the market with some launch activities actually next week. We'll be shipping all the family members of that product line I'll call it, by the end of this quarter, and total volume think in terms of several hundred thousand, or hundreds of thousands of units. No further details were given, so we'll have to see what they're up to next week.

AMD CEO: Expect tablet chip with 'great graphics'

Advanced Micro Devices CEO Dirk Meyer said that his company will address the tablet market with a design that packs "great graphics," but isn't in any great hurry. The discussion came during the chipmaker's conference call on third-quarter earnings, which the company reported today. "I expect we're going to see tablets in various form factors and thicknesses over time. From everything we understand today, it's still a pretty new market," he said. Currently, by far the most popular tablet is Apple's iPad, which uses that company's A4 processor. Intel has targeted its Oak Trail Atom processor for the tablet market. Meyer continued. "A tablet would optimally have power dissipation of two to three watts, which is a little more than half of what a fanless Netbook would tolerate. I expect customers will take components designed with Netbooks in mind and put them in tablets. And I think you'll see AMD solutions in tablets in the next couple of years for that reason." Allocating significant research and development resources is a wait-and-see scenario, he said. "It's [a market] we'll devote significant R&D energy towards when the market is big enough to justify that investment. Frankly, we're still so small in the notebook market that it doesn't make sense for us to turn R&D dollar spending toward the tablet market yet. We'll start doing that when the market is big enough." And what might an AMD tablet chip offer? "We'll show up with a differentiated offering with great graphics and video technology," Meyer said. Speaking more generally about the tablet market, he said: "The tablet is a disruption in the notebook market. If you ask five people you'll get five different answers as to what degree there has been cannibalization by tablets of either Netbooks or notebooks. I think the answer is both." He continued: "There's no question that the tablet phenomenon has been a source of volatility relative to any of our customer's ability to predict the market. But [we're] still looking at pretty healthy notebook growth."
