Formula One bosses want Silverstone's owners to do their negotiating in private as both sides try to keep the British Grand Prix circuit on the calendar beyond next year.
Some 140,500 fans turned up for world champion Lewis Hamilton's home race on Sunday, a crowd unlikely to be beaten anywhere else this season.
However, the threat of 2019 being a farewell to the former World War Two airfield that hosted the first world championship race in 1950, and is a home grand prix for most teams, remains real.
Silverstone activated a break clause in 2017 for their hosting deal to end next year unless better terms can be negotiated.
The promoter's fee for hosting the race increases by five percent annually, which means it grew from 11.5 million pounds ($15.31 million) in 2010 to 16.2 million pounds in 2017. By 2026, it would have risen to 25 million pounds.
BRDC chairman John Grant told a news conference last year, after the circuit racked up multi-million pound losses in 2015 and 2016 despite huge crowds, that the current contract was "not financially viable".

Pierre Gasly has lost the point he scored in the British Grand Prix after receiving a post-race penalty for a collision with Sergio Perez.
Gasly beat Perez to 10th, securing his third points finish of the season, but only after late-race contact at the end of the lap.
The stewards have since reviewed that incident and handed Gasly a five-second penalty.
That hands Perez the final point and drops Gasly to 13th behind Stoffel Vandoorne and Lance Stroll.
Põneva lõpuga sõit aga olin pettunud, et kehvema seguga ja kulunumate rehvidega Mercedesed nii hästi vastu pidasid. Teine turvaauto oleks võinud olemata olla. Ferrari "double stacking" pit stop turvaauto ajal oli selgelt hea strateegia. Ka mõlemad Red Bullid olid vist kollaste rehvidega. Kõik viitas sellele, et Mercedesed lõpuni vastu ei pea... aga siis Bottas ja Ham vahetasid kohti. Bottas takistasi Kimit, paar ringi veel ja Kimi oleks võinud Hamiltoni ära võtta.
Võimalik, et Kimi ja Verstappeni varasem heitlus hoidis neid mõlemaid Hamiltonist kaugemal ning ilma selleta oleks ka Kimi varem Hamiltonile kanna peale astunud ja ehk mõõdagi saanud veel enne kui nad Bottasega kohti vahetasid.

The high-speed track has been a stronghold for Mercedes in recent years, but tweaks in particular to Ferrari's floor resulted in a performance step that made a big difference.
Here, Giorgio Piola and Matt Somerfield look at the changes in detail.
The long gill-like holes in the SF71H's floor have been updated, as an extra hole was introduced that reached right back and around to the angled holes ahead of the rear tyre.
To compensate for the arrival of the extra long gill ahead of them the angled holes have also been adjusted too.
The flap on the edge of the floor introduced earlier in the season (inset, red arrow) has been discarded and replaced by a simple upturn on the floors edge.
The serrated winglet on the upper leading corner of the rear brake duct (inset, blue arrow) was also adjusted as part of this update, as the serrations have become full blown slots (blue arrow), working the airflow over the surface harder.
As part of its quest to deliver a strong all-round contender at Silverstone, Ferrari also decided to run its spoon-shaped rear wing, trading some downforce for drag reduction.
Eyeing the airflow interaction between the hot air exiting the engine cover below and the underside of the rear wing as a potential pitfall, the team opted to run an outlet with a valley in the central section (inset).

SkySports kommentaatorid arvasid, et karistuse suurus peab olema proportsioonis tekitatud kahjuga. Kuna Hamilton langes rivi lõppu, siis Kimi sai samaväärse ajalise karistuse. Kui Hamilton oleks vaid kaks kohta kaotanud, siis ei oleks vast üldse karistust järgnenud.

Ma ei usu, et musta lipu oleks saanud. Aga see on stewardite otsustada ja täpne põhjus - karistus menüü puudub.

Renault Sport Formula 1 boss Cyril Abiteboul believes grand prix racing would benefit from an "aggressive" cull of races that reduces the calendar to as few as 15 races.
F1's calendar matched its all-time high of 21 grands prix this season, including an unpopular maiden triple-header of consecutive race weekends.
There have been suggestions the season could feature 22 or 23 in the near future, with new races targeted in the United States and Asia.
