DIRT: Colin McRae Off-Road announced

PC.IGN has posted the first details on DIRT: Colin McRae Off-Road (Colin McRae: DIRT in PAL territories), the next installment in the Colin McRae series. The game due on the PC, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360 in 2007, and here's some info:
Heralded to be "the most diverse title in the series yet," the game will span locations throughout the world and feature the series' trademark point-to-point races as well as a slew of off-road events. Exact locations and tracks are quite slim at this juncture, but we have been told that the entire 12.4 miles of the legendary Pike's Peak International course and all of its 150+ turns through the Rocky Mountains will be included.

In addition to its point-to-point races, DIRT: Colin McRae Off-Road will also boast desert-ridden Rally Raid competitions in Dakar-style trucks and 4x4s, Rally Cross events that switch between dirt and road racing, and 850bhp heavyweight car Hill Climb challenges situated on cliff sides. Additionally, the game will offer a mode dedicated to each of the European, International and Global rally championships and will feature official 2WD, 4WD, Classic and RWD rally cars.

Lastly, while the game's multiplayer features are under tight wraps for now, we do know that it will feature online multiplayer support.

He's getting a bit long in the tooth now, is old Colin, and it's been two years now since the last game bearing his name. He's not even that good at rally driving anymore. And yet, much like the Tony Hawk games, Colin McRae rally titles are pretty much guaranteed to be high quality - even more so when they happen to be coming out for what'll be the world's most powerful games machine.

Take those weird 2D crowds - they've been dumped and replaced with fully animated 3D spectators that react to the way you drive. Expect to see them cheer and holler as you powerslide past them or lose interest in you altogether if you're too slow.

Even the way cars roll and crash has been subjected to a sprinkling of PS3 wonder dust, shying away from the totally over-the-top explosions of metal and rubber seen in games like Burnout. Instead cars will bend, buckle and be torn apart realistically according to what they hit and where, so every accident will be different.

Add in the new race-style Rally RAID events, an adrenaline-soaked alternative to those punishing timed stages, and Colin McRae: DIRT is set to hurtle out of a dark wet forest and into somewhere much more exciting early next year. Look out - CAR!

Pildid on küll ilusad ei tea kas gf7900gtx sli omfg OC on miinimum nõue või mis? selleks et üldse peamenüüssegi laseks Suht uskumatu detailsusega pildid, aga ei usu eriti, et siuke graafika tuleb. Kuna tegu koll reissinguga, siis seda ka ei usu, et eriti reaalne juhitavus/autokäitumine sealt tuleb, aga eks näis (ilmselt mitte mina oma 6800-ga )
