Following the appearance of Pro Evolution Soccer 5 for PSP on a release schedule issued by Atari Australia, which publishes the PES games over there, Konami has confirmed to Eurogamer that the series is indeed going portable.

But only on Sony's handheld, apparently - there are no plans to produce a version for the Nintendo DS at present.

Which seems a little odd, since Winning Eleven was on a list of DS games in development released by Nintendo last summer. Hmm...

Konami producer Shingo "Seabass" Takatsuka discussed PES for PSP back in October, also revealing that PlayStation 2 owners may be able to go online with the fifth instalment in the series.

This has yet to be confirmed, as does a release date for PES5. However, Play.com is already taking pre-orders, suggesting it'll be marching onto the pitch come October 28. PES games are traditionally released around this time, so it seems like a reasonable estimate.

In other PES news, Konami has signed England and Chelsea defender John Terry to promote the series.

"I've been a massive fan of Pro Evolution Soccer for years now and am really pleased to be able to work with the talented people behind such a fantastic game," said Terry, clutching his bag of shiny new pound coins.

"It's the game of choice for lots of players as it is so true to the real thing. I'm looking forward to getting involved - and getting to play advance versions on the way!" Jolly good.

Crespo UP. They say he's strong and powerful.
Tamada UP. They says it's only because he played pretty good in the Asian Cup
Miyamoto is more or less but they say he has like 3 special ability stars
Nakata, Ono, Nakamura, Nakazawa are 'sarpados'. - I guess their stats have been boosted up.. I'n not sure.
Joaquin has more acceleration.
Marcos Assuncao increased his Free Kick ability (more?? he already had like 97 how much does he have now?? 150??? jajaja)

*The games with snow are pretty good. You can see the orange ball rolling down the white snow like it happens in the european leagues.
*Sometimes the security people who are beside the field move.Sometimes you see the linesmen. and sometimes Ballboys too!!!! WOW This WE seems more realisic.
*During Half Time there's a new option "Abandonr game" In other words if you don't like the game you can just quit - I guess this is different because now your win-lose stats are being kept.
*When you score, there's a scene where the camera shows the player who scored from a camara in the stands and you can see the hands from the fans blocking you
*The game points after each game, the ones given to each player, are higher than in we8 or we8le
*Taking a shot on goal is more complicated. The first impression you can get is that it is much harder but once you get used to it, taking a shot will be even easier than doing so in WE8Le. The shots are more easily blocked in WE9
*Injuries not only happen with physical contact with other player but they can also occur when running or when you are by yourslef. (This guy mentions that Shinki Ono got injured in the second match of the Nippon challenge. In the second half he took a long range shot and then you could see him grabbin his back after that and when he checked if he was alright, he was injured!! without any phyiscal contact!
*Once you finish a game in the Japan Challenger 2006 mode, you get the image a sports newspaper with the game review and how the press saw how you played.
*Fair play has improved a little.
*Kawaguchi made a throw with his hands that went all the way to the half line ( just imagine Gomes from PSV- throwing the ball to the other goal~ jaja)
*Now the referee lets physical contact inside the box.
*When playing against the CPU, if your oppenent is on the floor and you throw the ball out. The CPU will give you back the ball.(THERE's FAIR PLAY!!! jajaja)
*They say there are no slowdown( He also says it could have been casual that it didn't happen )
*AI is more intelligent and smart.
*The field seems to be bigger
*Controlling the balls has improved. Defenders control and chest the ball with more realism
*When you are being pressed by the opponent's deffence, the passes are less precise than 8LE.
*Some lower class FW's are faster on the wings than Ronaldo. In other orders, wingers are better than Forwards in the wings because forward don't do this task that often

esiteks on PES-i seeria eelkõige selle mängitavuse pärast tuntud(gameplay) kõik mis platsil toimub on teiste jalkamängudega võrreldes palju realistlikum...graafika ongi demodes alati s**t olnd ja PES-i õpib mängima palju kauem jah...eriti nuppude kasutamist, sest PES 5es pidi mängija juhtimine väga manuaalselt käima..seetõttu see võib algul täiesti algajal vägagi raske olla aga ära alla anna...mida raskem on mäng seda kauem saab seda mängida ju

demo installil on mingid jamad.... mul mingi erroreri pexis.. ja mingi 10 katsega õnnestus alles puhtalt....

mäng ise on lahe.... mitte suured erinevused.... aga nüüd saab raiuda ikka.... pes4-s ei saant nagu väga tugevalt lüüa... nüüd saab ikka virutada vihaga:D... mängu tempo on väiksem.... ootan fulli....

Animatsioon on kõvasti paranenud vaadake kasvõi õhupallivõitlust, kuidas käsi ja keha hoitakse, nügitakse jne . Peab ka mainima, et väga kohe meeldib see liikumise nõtkus, kuidagi palju loomulikum tundub. Ka 180 kraadi pööre, pes 4'as ja we8 kuidagi uimas sellega. Animatsioon on päris kõva tase edasi, palju rohkem loomulikumalt liiguvad. Soovitan korra Pes3 proovida, siis saab aru, mis hüppe animatsioon on teinud

sharkman'il on õigus, et tempo on aeglasem, aga mitte oluliselt, mängu pilt tundubki loomulikum. Aga üldiselt tundub väga viis mäng tulema. Värvaid saab jah nüüd raiuda, kui ikka tahad siis panevad selliseid pomme, enamasti küll üle. Demo install läks muidu ilma viperusteta. Tore on ka see, et menüü struktuur on muudetud jälle samasuguseks nagu see oli PES3'es . Proovisin ka kohe max raskusega (6 siis), umbes sama raske või tsipa raskem tundub. Olulist vahet ei märganud. Sai ka esimene värav löödud Arsenaliga siis. Ühe mängu sain kaela Reali käest, ülejäänud 5 mängu lõppesid 0:0 viikidega. Aga jah väga viis,soovitan demot kindlasti proovida.

Demo installimisel tekib selline probleem, et ta pakib automaatselt C: kettale selle installi lahti ja suunab Samuti kõik c kettale (kuigi oleks nagu antud ka muud kettad) enne kui C kettal vähemalt 700 mb vaba ruumi olemas ple, ple üldse mõtet proovima hakata installima....mängupilt on jah väga kõva..kuidagi palju reaalsem tundub kõik...ja Samuti teevad kaitsed palju paremat tööd lüües palli välja...driblada on palju raskem, aga samas tsenderdustest on kergem löögile saada. Väga kõva mäng...jään fulli ootama

Väga viis... Asi on edas arenenud küll Pes4-ga võrreldes just liikumise poolest. Kõik toimub mõnusalt yhtlaselt, mitte enam nii kandiliselt kui vanasti. Endal raudpolt plaan see asi omandada kui välja tuleb.

PES5 - PS2 Review
Ok, let's not dwell on how I got the game, irrelevant given I've already pre-ordered and paid top dollar for an original copy with priority shipping.

First Look
- Cool intro with some decent music. Much better than the WE9 intro. Rather than the street pick-up game, it has players doing skills moves against various backdrops with crazy special effects going on all around. The song that's played is really cool. The NTSC option is still there which is cool. Thankfully Konami realize there are a lot of us playing the game in N. America before we get WE9:I.

Main Menu
Terry replaces the Japanese player for the background. No 'Nippon Challenge' option equivalent. Load times seem faster than for WE9.

Edit Mode

Yes, mostly up to date freaking transfers - AT LAST!!!
Still a few ommissions but mostly up to date, the best Konami have ever managed with a PES release by a long way!

Gameplay
Faster than WE9. Not crazy fast but definitely faster, maybe a little too fast, not sure yet, maybe it'll just take some getting used to again. Most important thing for me - LESS FREAKING CONTACT FOULS FROM 50:50 SHOULDER BARGES. Thank you Konami. Bad points:
- Shots seem very, very fast even when not letting the shot bar go too far.
- Crowd on vacation problem still there.
- Bit of a slowdown in the box on some camera views (e.g. Broadcast)
- Dribbling still a bit of a nightmare on 5 stars even with Cristiano Ronaldo.
- Dang sidesteps still there 200 times a game! Have to get used to them for this year I guess.
- Goalkeepers will still only use two hands to save or just watch the ball fly in rather than make a one-handed save.

In-Game
Some new adboards, 4-4-2 Magazine, BT Broadband, to mention a couple. Look better than the default WE9 ones. Commentary seems pretty much the same as PES4 so far. Graphics very nice for the aging PS2, makes you wonder if there's anything left to pull out of it performance wise.

Overall
Well, I've only played about 10 games but it's an improvement over WE9 in a number of areas. The increased speed isn't a bonus for me as I thought WE9 was paced just right and the shots seem to zip off at a frightening speed even from people like Van Nistelrooy. The headers can be superhuman and the shooting from distance is still a little over-easy although they seemed a little more inaccurate than in WE9 which is good. After playing FIFA 06 on the PS2 for the last week which I've been enjoying, I can't say this has made me regret my decision to play both games this year rather than just stick with what Konami is offering. Looking forward to WE9:I though for my own country before I start any kind of editing in depth.

Anyway, worth the money as always despite my various issues with the game. Not sure it's going to move me from the fun I'm having with FIFA at the moment but we'll see.

Edited to say that the 'Network' option is disabled. This may be because this is not the final release (although I doubt it given the transfers are up to date) or some other reason.
