Enne kui asi päris naljaks ära keeratakse, tasuks vaadata ka seda artiklit, kus protsessi autorid oma ideed lähemalt seletavad. Muide, nagu juba varem mainitud, ei olnud tegu The Inquireri enda leiutisega, ja nad olid selle koha pealt väga ettevaatlikud, st. artiklis oli hoiatus seda mitte järgi proovida, kui ei tea, mida teed. Tüübid seletavad ka, et kui asja õigesti teha, siis kaob kettalt norton ghosti tekitatud virtuaalne partitsioon:

'....we are not accessing the virtual partition from Ghost. It is in fact being deleted once the process occurs. After that partition is created, we are booting into a different drive with the original drive as a slave. That slave drive contains the virtual partition and the unused partiton space. The virtual partition is then deleted (VPSGHOST I believe is the name) and the new partition is formatted and designated a drive letter. I do not think these are overlapping partitions because file space is not affected when you write to one or the other. I think that Jeff may have this right in that we are accessing portions of the disk that were reserved for bad sector rewrites and space unallocated due to inspection failure.'


Siin leiab käsitlust küsimus, kas väiksema suurusega müüdud kettad ikka on väiksemad kettad(analoogia protsessoritega):

'In essence, just because a part is the lower performance part (or in this case a lower amount of storage on disk) does not mean it was faulty or unable to perform at a higher speed (or larger capacity).'

See on lihtsalt selgituse korras autorilt:

'My original message to the INQ was such that I expected someone out there to try this and verify what we have seen as valid or invalid but at least try it first It was not to make wild claims that this works definitively or is even a good idea. But is is really interesting none the less... '

Ja selles osas on neil kindlasti õigus, et tegu on kõigest hoolimata siiski huvitava nähtusega, mida tasub lähemalt uurida, enne kui see idiootsuse pähe välja naerda või naljakate juhtumiste alla panna...

Voila, esimene mees kirjutab The Inquirerile, et sai asjaga edukalt hakkama, lisades 40GB kettale 25GB mahtu juurde, ilma write/read erroriteta. Kuigi vend on enda sõnul kindel, et niipea, kui ta satub bad sectory otsa, on failid corrupted, peaks see kiri siiski suud lukku panema kõigil neil, kes arvasid, et Ghost teeb ühel kettal lihtsalt 2 partitsiooni üksteise peale, mis jagavad tegelikult sama kettaruumi. to comment of the hard drive article --

I have noticed that Wiley's article has triggered a wave of replies, some of them not technically correct. I have tested this myself and it works. I have used a Hitachi (or IBM if you like ) 40GB hard drive as a target and followed the instructions. At the end I have gained additional 25 GB of free space. I have spent some time testing that I can fill up both partitions on the hard drive and still get all files without corruption, and it works fine. I am sure, that as soon the disk would come accross a bad sector, i would start writing to my "new" partition, thus corrupting some of the data and maybe even loosing all of it. I certainly wouldn't use this space for valuable data, but I can see great use for it as a "junk" or temporary file store, or films, stuff like that... That's all I had to say.
