The Apple Watch will be Waterproof Thanks to Liquipel
The developers of Liquipel brag about how their product can make an iPhone waterproof without the case. Liquipel is described as a specialized process that applies a liquid repellent substance to electronic devices.

The problem is that you cannot do it at home and you need your device to them so it can be sealed. Also, this will not be available in the near future as a do-it-yourself apparatus.

The company says they place the device into a proprietary machine which creates a vacuum. Once the vacuum process is complete they inject into that small chamber the Liquipel formula which turns into a gas.

They also introduce plasma which decomposes the liquid repellent molecules and applies them evenly on the device. One the pressure is back to normal they remove the device and it becomes water and virtually any liquid-proof for life.

Their disclaimer says that Liquipel does not offer 100% percent, but it good for accidental spills, splashes and brief shallow submersion. So, for example if you drop your iPhone in a puddle or the toilet and take it out right away, there's no need to worry about. You can apply liquipel to your iPhone, iPad, iPod and even your EarPods. And this has been available for prices below $100 for a while now.

The news is about the Apple Watch. Danny McPhail, one of the co-founders of Liquipel has been asked by TUAW whether they will provide a solution for Apple's new smartwatch. Lo and behold, the answer came today and it proves that they have a solution for the new wearable.

McPhail says that with Apple's foray into this product category, the need for a waterproof watch is even greater. This is because the Apple Watch will always be in danger of getting in contact with liquids and humidity. Liquipel will take care of that. Their Watersafe nano-coating will protect the device and make it usable in any condition.

Such a solution would be the golden ticket for Apple's line of products. We know that Sony and other small manufacturers already have waterproof smartphones and Apple is really left behind on this side. The company has a number of patents that cover that topic, but so far none of those have been applied to actual products.

Apple still has a few good months to go until they will start shipping the Apple Watch so they do have time to implement a similar solution or just buy this company if they want to use their product.
