ASUS promises speedy SATA Express option on all future motherboards

ASUS will soon become the first company to offer SATA Express interfaces and components as standard on all its future motherboards and its customers will benefit from a speed hike as a result.

The implementation, which comes as the result of a partnership with Intel, means that sequential read/write speeds are able to reach 745/809Mbps resulting in a motherboard that can download a 10GB movie in as little as 10 seconds.

The research effort deployed by the two led to the discovery of a BIOS structure called the Separate Reference Clock with Independent Spread Spectrum Clocking Architecture [SRIS] that allows for the boost in speeds.

To come across the new discovery, ASUS developed Hyper Express, a 2.5in SATA Express external enclosure, that allows two mSATA devices to be accommodated and lets ASUS engineers finely engineer new motherboard designs to reach full speed.
