1. Microsoft Releases First Windows 10 Redstone 3 Build
Insiders in Fast ring switching back to development branch

With Windows 10 Creators Update now available as a manual download, and with Windows Update rollout scheduled to begin on April 11, Microsoft decided to push the very first Redstone 3 build to insiders as well, as the company begins a new chapter for its operating system.

Windows 10 build 16170 is now shipping to insiders in the Fast ring, and just like expected, there’s no big change available for the time being. Microsoft is only paving the way for bigger updates that will be released in the coming months, so the first builds are all about improvements and refinements to OneCore.

There are only a few changes and fixes in this build, and no new features. One of the visible changes concerns File Explorer, which is getting a new share icon that Microsoft says aligns the app with the new share iconography of the company.

Users are also getting some bug fixes for problems causing the PC to fail to install new builds, but also for errors that impacted night light schedule.

2. Microsoft Begins Next Windows 10 Chapter as Redstone 3 Development Starts

Redstone 3 is the next big thing for Windows 10 and build 16170 is the one that officially marks the beginning of development, even though other builds were previously spotted as well.

Just like expected, work on Redstone 3 will advance slowly at first and no big changes would be implemented in the first builds, with Microsoft trying to improve OneCore and pave the way for bigger updates, such as an UI overhaul as part of the internally codenamed Project NEON.
